Steffen Menzel
Programme Lead
Steffen Menzel is Programme Lead for Climate Diplomacy and Geopolitics at E3G. He is coordinating E3G’s work on Germany's Climate Foreign Policy, as well as EU Climate and Green Deal Diplomacy.
Steffen is responsible for E3G’s input into German and EU climate diplomacy, including strategy and analysis, government and further stakeholder outreach and coordination of targeted, impactful interventions. His areas of expertise include international climate cooperation, UNFCCC negotiations and Paris Agreement implementation.
In the previous 10 years, he has worked in international climate politics for the German government and GIZ in Berlin, Bonn, Beijing, Washington DC and Ulan Bator. He holds an MSc in Carbon Management from the University of Edinburgh and a BSc in Forest Management and Environment from Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg.
In his spare time, he enjoys exploring Berlin and its surroundings, travelling in Germany, Europe, and abroad with his wife and his little son.
