Policy Advisor
Lekai Liu is a Policy Advisor for Climate Diplomacy at E3G‘s Berlin Office.
He works on analysing the dynamics of climate governance in China and China’s climate diplomacy vis-à-vis developing countries, dissecting the impact of its domestic and foreign policies on international climate governance, and focuses on identifying opportunities for international collaboration on climate.
Prior to joining E3G, Lekai was a researcher with The Wall Street Journal’s China Bureau. Before that, he was a beat reporter covering Southeast Asia and its relations with China at the international news desk with The Paper in Shanghai.
Lekai earned dual master’s degrees in international affairs with energy and environment concentration from Columbia University in New York and The Hertie School in Berlin.
In his spare time, Lekai likes to travel and explore authentic noodle restaurants in town. He is also an aviation geek.
