Achieving clean power by 2030

Achieving clean power by 2030

As one of the biggest historical emitters of carbon, the UK has a duty to transition fast to net-zero. With the City of London one of the most powerful financial centres in the world, the UK also has an outsized impact on investment in the global economy, which means it has the potential to play a major role in accelerating global action to combat climate change.

E3G has been working in the UK for 20 years, with its staff helping to shape ambitious and transformational policies, including generating cross-party support for net zero legislation, the development of the Green Investment Bank, driving billions of capital investment into energy efficiency, ending coal fired power, ending fossil fuel finance overseas, developing political support for net-zero transition plans for companies and shaping power policy, with the UK now set on a mission to achieve clean power by 2030.

E3G works across energy, industry, finance and climate diplomacy – with a focus on securing a transition which maintains public support and delivers a prosperous future. We work in alliance with civil society organisations, unions, business and finance, developing detailed policy solutions and working to develop political support for ambitious climate action in the UK and in international forums.

Our aim is simple – to accelerate action to ensure climate safety for all.
