The implementation of the Lisbon Treaty’s High Representative and the long awaited EU External Action Service has been causing great concern amongst several major civil society organisations.
The current set of Brussels proposals seem to be designed to preclude any chance of a coherent and adequately resourced EU foreign policy that can tackle cross-cutting 21st-century problems.
In order to support their work with “fight back” in public debate, ten such organisations have written a joint letter to EU27 Foreign Ministers, the whole Commission College, and the press.
